Katie Osburne

System Counsel


Katie Osburne joined the Office of Counsel in 2014. As Deputy General Counsel, Katie advises and assists the General Counsel and System Senior Staff on all legal issues affecting the System including human resources, finance, policy, ethics, research, benefits, affiliated entities, legislative matters, contracts, and litigation. She also works on special projects for the campuses and affiliated entities, as necessary. Prior to joining the Office of Counsel, she was in private practice in Tuscaloosa. Katie holds leadership roles in the community by serving on various non-profit boards and as a past chair of Leadership Tuscaloosa.

Katie earned her B.S. from The University of Alabama and her. J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law. She is a member of the Alabama State Bar, Tuscaloosa County Bar Association, National Association of College and University Attorneys, and the Society for Human Resource Management. Katie is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Tuscaloosa and a 2016 graduate of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum.
