UA System COVID Dashboard Reports Minimal Number of Positive Cases — 1,400+ Sentinel Tests Produce Only 9 Positive Results

The University of Alabama System’s comprehensive COVID-19 testing program, which was implemented in August, continues to provide a weekly snapshot of positive cases on the three System campuses (UA, UAB, UAH) and among clinical enterprise staff in the medical center, hospitals and clinics.

Key data in this week’s dashboard report:

  • UA and UAB saw a decline in student positive test results with 56 at UA and 43 at UAB.
  • UAH reported a slight increase in numbers, with 32 student positives this week among 10,000 students enrolled. UAH officials have continued to perform diligent contact tracing to prevent broader transmission.
  • Sentinel testing positives remain under 1% Systemwide, with more than 1,400 sentinel tests conducted for the reporting period.

The three universities have announced plans to continue on-campus instruction through November 20. Students will prepare for and take semester exams remotely and classes are scheduled to resume in-person in January.
