UA System Campuses Continue to Report Minimal COVID Cases as Mitigation Efforts Succeed
The University of Alabama System COVID-19 dashboard has been updated today with new data that affirms the effectiveness of the UA System’s comprehensive Health and Safety plan.
Key results:
- Systemwide, there were fewer than 100 new COVID cases this week among the 70,400 students on the three UA System campuses (UA, UAB and UAH).
- 20 faculty and staff members tested positive this week on all campuses combined.
- There are 5 UA students in isolation housing, 8 at UAB and none at UAH.
- 1,100+ faculty, staff and students in the System (including clinical enterprise staff in the UAB Health System) received sentinel testing this week, and only 8 tested positive.
The Board of Trustees, UA System Chancellor Finis St. John and the UA System Health and Safety team, along with working groups on the three campuses, launched America’s most comprehensive campus entry program for higher education students on August 4, 2020. Built on strategies involving training, testing and strict compliance with state and national health protocols, the plan has become a model for the nation.
