UA System COVID Cases Decline Sharply for Third Successive Week — Fewer than 50 New Positives at UA
Today’s University of Alabama System COVID-19 dashboard reports another sharp decrease in the number of positive cases.
On the University of Alabama campus, the student testing numbers have dropped from 119 last week to 48 for the period ending yesterday, a 60% decrease week over week.
UAH and UAB student numbers remain in low double digits, with 16 positives at UAB and 13 at UAH. No cases have been traced to contact in the classroom on any of the three campuses. There are no reports of current hospitalization.
Sentinel testing results for students, faculty and staff are less than 1% positive again this week. Sentinel testing is an important indicator that virus mitigation strategies are effective and there is a very low rate of asymptomatic positive cases throughout the UA System.
The occupancy of isolation/quarantine space has reached another record low since the dashboard report was first released on August 24. The data is updated weekly.
The University of Alabama System reports record enrollment of 70,405 for Fall 2020.
