The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees elected Mike Brock of Montgomery as its new President pro tempore during its annual meeting in Tuscaloosa on September 11, 2026. Brock has represented Alabama’s Second Congressional District on the Board of Trustees since 2020. Prior to his election as President pro tem, Brock served as chair of the Athletics Committee and vice chair of the Legal Affairs Committee.
Brock is a nationally recognized trial lawyer with more than 30 years of experience. He maintains a national trial practice with Kirkland & Ellis LLP from offices in Montgomery and Washington, D.C.
Brock earned a B.S. degree in Business and Commerce from The University of Alabama in 1981 and a J.D. degree from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1984. As a student-athlete, he was an All-SEC lineman on Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant’s National Championship teams of 1978 and 1979. During law school, he was the first recipient of The University of Alabama Athletics Department Graduate Scholarship, and he was a member of the Law School’s Moot Court Board
